I used to think that playing a guitar solo was hard! For 40 years I thought that!!!

Now I know better. And I won’t try to explain it in some super-music theoretical way that you may never understand(if it didn’t bore you to death first)! Playing a guitar solo is easy only if you can find the desired notes without a lot of thought. This frees your mind to concentrate on the creativity that automatically happens when you experience the joy of playing! I have nothing against music theory, because without it I could not have come up with this guitar solo concept in the first place! I worked very hard at learning music theory for years, and one day God said “Good job son, now here’s a gift for you”! It was a gift to me, so now it is my turn to share it with you. “Hooked on a Feeling” is a 1968 pop song written by Mark James and originally performed by B. J. Thomas. Featuring the sound of the electric sitar, the song reached number five in 1969 on the Billboard Hot 100. Cover versions by other artists have also been significant chart successes, including a chart-topping single by Blue Swede in 1974. In 1974, the Swedish pop group Blue Swede, with Björn Skifs as lead singer, did a cover, which included their own version of King’s “hooga chaka” introduction. Their version reached number one in the United States.^[3] It has been revived from time to time as a cultural touchstone of the 1970s: on the Reservoir Dogs soundtrack in 1992,^[4] as the “Dancing Baby” song in the Ally McBeal TV show,^[5] and the 2014 film Guardians of the Galaxy,^[6] which featured the song in its advance advertising, resulting in a significant spike in sales for the recording.^[7] After featuring prominently in the movie, Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), which features “Hooked on a Feeling” as its opening track, reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart in August 2014.^[8]
